BOSTON 2026 Promotional Stamps Announced
Received from Thomas M. Fortunato, BOSTON 2026 Public Relations Chair, on 6 March:
The issuance of postage stamps honoring Boston 2026 World Expo has been announced by the United States Postal Service, the major sponsor of the event.
The March 6 USPS press release detailed the background of the se-tenant pair of stamps: “To build anticipation and commemorate this confluence of art, history and international goodwill, two intaglio-printed stamps will highlight the special role of Boston in the American Revolution as we prepare to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary.”
Classically engraved images of the Old North Church and Paul Revere’s famous Midnight Ride are depicted, printed in a shade of steel blue. They were designed by Greg Breeding, an art director for the USPS and principal of the Journey Group, along with digital illustrations by Dan Gretta.
Boston 2026 President Yamil Kouri commented on the issue, “Everyone involved with Boston 2026 is appreciative of the Postal Service’s continued support through these stamps helping to spread the word about our exhibition around the world.” Executive Director Mark Butterline added, “This continues the tradition of past Postal Service promotions of U.S. international exhibitions by issuing a stamp a year beforehand. A big thanks from everyone working on Team Boston 2026.”
The 2025 release date and first day location of the stamp duo is yet to be announced.
Boston 2026 World Expo takes place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Full show details may be found at Boston2026.org and on X and Facebook. Sign up to be added to the Boston 2026 email list and receive updates when available.
