FEPA Certificate of Appreciation 2025
Philatelic Society of Tampere (Finland)
Tampereen Filatelistiseura ry
The Society was founded in 1919 as the first Finnish-language philatelic association. Today, it is one of the largest associations in Finland in terms of membership.
The Society holds club evenings twice a month, as well as lectures and auctions covering topics such as Thematic Philately, Postal History, and collection development. Its activities are grounded in community and knowledge sharing. A longstanding tradition is the joint meetings with the Turku Stamp Club (Turun Postimerkkikerho), a practice maintained since the 1950s. The Society combines philatelic traditions with modern technology: when COVID restrictions began, it was the first Finnish philatelic association to move activities online, and meetings have continued to be streamed since then.
The Society organises a national stamp exhibition approximately every five years. In 2025, it hosted the 500-frame TamCollect exhibition, bringing philately to the general public in one of Finland’s largest shopping centres. The exhibition also attracted media attention, highlighting its success in reaching audiences beyond traditional collectors. Additionally, the society runs two annual collecting events that attract stamp dealers from across Finland and maintains a long-standing and fruitful collaboration with the Finnish Postal Museum.
