The latest Trait d’Union 2022-2, the biannual AEP Newsletter to its members, reported yesterday the AEP Awards for 2023 as follows:
The European Philatelic Merit 2023 has been awarded to Vincent Schouberechts (Belgium). The AEP would like to distinguish here a member who is not only one of the most brilliant researchers in old philatelic literature, but also a key player in the success of international philatelic events. This is an opportunity to also report, belatedly, that he gave a display on May 26, 2022, to the Royal Philatelic Society London, which was greatly appreciated. Congratulations and thank you Vincent!
Double hit for the European Prize for Philatelic Literature 2023: two works are indeed winners, both having been presented at MonacoPhil 2022. Portuguese India – Postal History and the First Issues From the “natives” to 1900 was mentioned in Trait d’Union 2022 -1. Published by the RPSL, its authors Luis & Eduardo Barreiros, well known specialists in Portuguese postal history. The armies of Buonaparte to Napoleon 1793-1815 is the impressive work of more than 800 pages produced by Maurice Boule on the occasion of the eponymous exhibition in Monaco.
The 2023 European Philatelic Press Prize is awarded to the Collectors Club Philatelist. This prize is awarded for the first time to a periodical outside our continent. It is, however, well known to the European members of the Collectors Club New York who appreciate the high level of articles, which regularly include the philately of Europe and its former colonies.
