On 24th March, James Bendon FRPSL, renowned British philatelist, dealer and publisher, distributed the following message to his clients and friends:
I have retired!
After more than 50 years as a full-time stamp dealer and philatelic publisher and having reached the age of 85 I have decided that it is time to retire. I will be spending my time putting my own collections in order, disposing of my stock and parts of my library, and writing some articles or even another book. Over the years I have welcomed correspondence about specimen stamps and I intend to continue to advise and help collectors.
James Bendon traded as a stamp dealer, first in London (1971), later in Cyprus (1987), and back again in London (2014). His first book, UPU Specimen Stamps, was self-published in Limassol, in 1988.

We copy the sad news from Linn’s Stamp News website, published on 22nd March:
Sergio Sismondo, an esteemed postal historian and philatelic dealer whose encyclopedic knowledge of classic-era stamps and postal history enriched collectors from around the world, died March 13 in Syracuse, N.Y., at the age of 80.
Mr. Sismondo was born in Italy and during the course of his life became fluent in five languages: Italian, French, Portuguese, Spanish and English.
Mr. Sismondo, widely regarded as an expertizer, stamp dealer and author, was profiled in “Linn’s Most Influential Philatelists and Their Epic Stamp Stories”, published in 2022.
Linn’s obituary goes on describing how Sergio Sismondo was heavily influenced by Victor Kneitschel, how he handled some of the world’s greatest rarities, his systematic approach to the expertisation process and his contribution to Scott Classic Specialized Catalogue.
