It is with pleasure that we welcome philatelic collectors from all the Nordic countries to
Nordia 2019 at Quality Hotel, Sarpsborg on 23. – 25. August 2019.
We are very proud that HRH Crown Prince Haakon has agreed to be the exhibition’s
Patron.
The hotel is situated at Grålum near Sarpsborg, right in the heart of the county of Østfold.
This is not far from Fredrikstad, Halden and Svinesund, and only about an hour’s drive
from Oslo. There is free parking at the hotel.
The exhibition takes place in two halls at the hotel, Gandalf and Tune. Additionally, the
participating postal authorities will reside in the Golf lounge.
It is now 30 years since a Nordic exhibition took place in Østfold. That was in Fredrikstad,
hosted by the local club. Norsk Filatelistforbund is hosting the exhibition this time. All the
societies in the region, plus a number of volunteer members of other societies from other
parts of the country, are jointly responsible for the practical arrangements.
There will be other philatelic events taking place at the hotel this weekend. In addition to
hosting the exhibition, Norsk Filatelistforbund has their National meeting, and Skanfil AS is
holding a special exhibition auction.
This autumn exhibition will be the main Nordic philatelic event with many dealers and
postal authorities present. For visitors not so interested in stamps, there are opportunities
to enjoy the hotel’s Badeland water park and the county’s many popular attractions and
summer activities. It is recommended that hotel rooms are booked now, as there are other
events taking place at the same time as the exhibition.
The deadline for application for exhibits is 20. March 2019 and as there is room for
upwards of 700 frames in the competitive classes, we expect it to be a bit cramped. There
will also be a class for invited collections and a court of honour with some surprises.
Dealers who are considering having a sales stand should not hesitate to book now, as the
available places are being taken.
Updates and information on Nordia 2019 will be found on our Internet site www.nordia2019.no and Facebook site, so we recommend you to follow them.
