Instead of an annual lecture, this year the Stuart Rossiter Trust is hosting a Seminar on “What is Postal History?”. An all-day event, it will feature presentations and discussions from a team of six well-known specialist speakers with divergent views on a variety of aspects.
It will take place on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, at the Royal Philatelic Society, London (15 Abchurch Lane, London, EC4N 7BW). Attendance is free and light refreshments will be served. Space is limited, however, so you are advised to email srtcorr@gmail.com to reserve your seat. Further details will be announced later.
The Stuart Rossiter Trust Fund is a Charitable Trust supporting research and publication relating to the history of communication through postal systems of the world.
To date, the Trust has published 52 books on Postal History, and funded 29 research projects. It has also hosted 25 annual Lectures.
Hotel reservations have opened for Boston 2026 World Expo, taking place in fourteen months.
Eight official show hotels have been selected from throughout the Boston Seaport district representing Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott, Omni and Yotel chains. All are three or four-star rated, fully wheelchair-accessible and within walking distance of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. The show headquarters hotel, the Westin Boston Seaport District, and the Omni Boston Hotel at the Seaport, are physically attached to the center itself.
Reservations are being accepted for check-ins a few days before the show’s opening, during, and a few days after the close from Tuesday, May 19 through Monday, June 1.
Per night room rates run from $229 to $333. Rates shown are for single/double occupancy. Triple and quad occupancy is available at some show hotels. These discounted prices are only available by making reservations through the Boston 2026 web site link to onPeak, the show’s contracted housing management firm. Negotiations continue to add one or two properties to the list outside of the city center. These, too, will be found on the Boston2026.org hotel page when confirmed.
Hotel rooms are offered on a first-come basis with no guarantee that additional room blocks will be released once full. In all cases a credit card or check deposit of one night’s stay is required. Reservations must be cancelled 72 hours prior to the day of arrival to avoid a late cancellation fee of one night’s room and tax.
Boston 2026 World Expo takes place May 23-30, 2026, at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. Full show details may be found at Boston2026.org and on X and Facebook. Sign up to be added to the Boston 2026 email list and receive updates when available.

The author gracefully sums up the artist’s life in the article’s subheader: “With 103 issued stamps and countless additional designs to his name, David Gentleman’s work masterfully blends contrasting techniques, unified by his distinctive and unmistakable style.”
Read how David Gentleman started designing British stamps in the 1960s and how he and the Postmaster General, Tony Benn, “…embarked on an endeavour to widen the scope of stamps and, controversially, to remove the Queen’s head from them altogether. The rationale was as an artistic objection to the problem of producing a design around the dominating presence of the Queen’s profile image (the Wilding portrait).”
Stuart Aitken says, “The culmination of this work was David’s album of experimental designs, which we regard as a treasured item in The Postal Museum’s collection. The designs cover a myriad of ideas, styles and concepts including transport, landscapes, insects, fungi, and architecture. Some of the themes were later expanded and used for future stamp issues, but some simply remained conceptual.”
