The 26th ALPE-ADRIA TARVISIO 2023
The 26th ALPE-ADRIA philatelic exhibition, “Tarvisio 2023”, was held from 21 to 24 September 2023, with 99 exhibits presented by 89 exhibitors belonging to the seven members of the Working group Alpe Adria Philatelie. A FIP-supported exhibition with FEPA recognition, ALPE-ADRIA gathered all members of this philatelic community, thanks to the organisational efforts of the Unione delle Associazioni e dei Circoli Filatelici e Numismatici del Friuli Venezia Giulia chaired by Francesco Gibertini. The Municipality of Tarvisio graciously made available the spacious Palazzetto dello Sport, and the Slovenian Post and the Slovenian Philatelic Federation kindly supplied most frames for this exhibition, in the framework of the spirit of cooperation which is at the base of the Working group. Despite the many difficulties after Gibertini sadly passed away a few weeks before the event, General Commissioner Gabriele Gastaldo and his team succeeded in setting up a show of high philatelic significance for the variety of subjects treated and the quality of philatelic material.
The exhibits were assessed with friendly and constructive cooperation among the jurors, whose task was eased by those exhibitors who provided the scans of their exhibits in advance. The jury was chaired by Giancarlo Morolli (Italy), President, and composed of Gerald Heschl (Austria), Julije Maras (Croatia), Thomas Höpfner (Germany), Istvàn Glatz (Hungary), Giacomo Bottacchi (Italy), Angelo Teruzzi (Italy), Bojan Bračič (Slovenia), and Giovanni Balimann (Switzerland). Luca Lavagnino, FSFI delegate for exhibitions and juries, supported their work. The Grand Prix, presented by the Federazione fra le Società Filateliche Italiane (FSFI), went to Giovanni Nembrini (Italy) for “The Postal Relationships between the Kingdom of Sardinia/Italy and the Old Italian States members of the Austrian-Italian Postal League”. The Alpe-Adria Philately Prize for the exhibit showing in the best way the spirit and the work of the Alpe-Adria Philatelic Community, presented by the Österreichischer Philatelisten Vereine (VÖPh), was awarded to Pierantonio Viotto, for “Postal Documents Udine’s Province (Friuli 1850-1866)”.
