UPU Celebrates 185th Anniversary of Penny Black

185 years ago today, the world’s first postage stamp – the “Penny Black” – came into use in the United Kingdom. Bearing the profile of Queen Victoria, this revolutionary stamp was part of Rowland Hill’s postal reform, which for the first time allowed senders to prepay postage.
