Varberg’s Postal History
We picked it up from the website of the Swedish Philatelic Federation.
This is a newly published book that encapsulates knowledge regarding the development of postal service in what now constitutes the municipality of Varberg, Sweden. For the town of Varberg and each community, detailed descriptions are provided of where the post offices were located, how they received their mail, and who the post office managers were. In total, there have been over 40 post offices within the current boundaries of the municipality. The book reports all known postmarks and periods of use, from their introduction in 1819 until 2000. A selection of high-quality illustrations displays the best philatelic objects in existence.
The 140-page book has been compiled by Anders Johansson (editor), Bengt Bengtsson, Jan Halldén, and Staffan Nilsson. It costs SEK 225 + 69 (shipping) and may be ordered from Anders Johansson (email anjo85458@telia.com).
