A Hybrid Exhibition for the 101st Anniversary of the Hellenic Philatelic Society
The Hellenic Philatelic Society celebrated its 101st anniversary with the hybrid national philatelic exhibition 101—held both physically and virtually—in Athens from 2 to 7 June 2026.
The physical exhibition was intended primarily for visitors. It featured 101 exhibits displayed in 101 frames at the venue. Each exhibit, regardless of its size, was allocated a single frame, with the exhibitors free to select which 16 pages to display. Through this format, the organisers sought to present to the public the breadth and diversity of stories philately can tell.
The virtual exhibition was—and will remain for a long time—available online. It was intended not only for exhibitors but also for everyone. As this was a first for Greece, it provided an opportunity for both exhibitors and jurors to get practical experience and become familiar with the advantages and challenges of virtual exhibiting and judging. A QR code positioned at the top left of each physical frame directed visitors’ mobile devices to the PDF file of the complete exhibit hosted on the exhibition website.
Another first for Greece was the range of options offered to prospective exhibitors before applying: (a) to exhibit physically, virtually, or both; (b) to participate competitively or non-competitively; and (c) to follow the rules or follow their heart.
The organisers are grateful to all exhibitors for contributing a total of 134 exhibits presented on 507 frames, together with 11 literature exhibits. They are especially grateful to the very strong Italian team, all the other foreign participants, and last but not least, the eight distinguished exhibitors who contributed eleven amazing exhibits to the Court of Honour.
The exhibition banner title is translated into English as ‘101 Beautiful Stories’.
