Next Stage of AVIOCOM 100 in Vasto on 26–28 June
AVIOCOM 100 is a commemorative initiative launched by the Italian Aerophilatelic Association (A.I.D.A.), together with partner organisations, to celebrate the Centenary of Italian Civil Aviation (1926–2026). The project comprises three travelling events taking place in Turin, Vasto and Rome throughout the year.
Its main objective is to commemorate 100 years of Italian civil aviation through conferences, philatelic exhibitions and historical presentations focusing on aviation and postal history. The initiative also seeks to promote the culture of collecting—particularly philately and postal history—and foster broader public interest in aviation.
The first event was held in Turin from 28 to 30 April 2026, at the A. Geisser Civic Library. Alongside the conference programme, it featured a philatelic and documentary exhibition dedicated to airlines connected to Turin’s early aviation history. Highlights included Società Italiana Servizi Aerei (S.I.S.A.), which inaugurated Italy’s first civil air route in 1926 (Turin–Pavia–Venice–Trieste), and Avio Linee Italiane (A.L.I.), also founded in Turin and notable for remaining independent until the creation of Ala Littoria in 1934. The exhibition also displayed scale aircraft models, including the Cant 10ter seaplane. A commemorative postcard and a special postmark were produced for the Turin event.
The next stage of AVIOCOM 100 will take place in Vasto from 26 to 28 June 2026, during the 52nd Aerophilately Day and Vastophil 2026 National Exhibition. This event will focus on Aero Espresso Italiana (A.E.I.), the airline that operated Italy’s first international route between Brindisi, Athens, and Constantinople. The organisers have also requested the issue of a commemorative stamp to mark the centenary.
