Philatelic exhibition in Istanbul commemorates healthcare staff dealing with COVID
Prof. Dr. Atadan Tunaci, MD, FRPSL, who is a member of the Turkish Philatelic Federation and Academy, has kindly sent us information about an exhibition held at the Faculty of Medicine in Istanbul University from 11 – 14 March 2021 to mark National Doctors Day on 14 March and the first anniversary of COVID 19 being recorded in Turkey (11 March). It commemorated the heroic efforts made by healthcare staff in dealing with the pandemic, especially the many doctors and nurses who died in the course of their duties. The exhibition was organised by the Turkish Philatelic Federation (TFDF) and the Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University with patronage from the Turkish PTT. All exhibitors were medical doctors who were also philatelists. Two first day covers and a special cancel were made available by the PTT and the Faculty produced a set of non-postal stamps in memory of the deceased physicians.
