The Essen International Stamp Fair has been regularly held since 1976. Following the interruption because of the pandemic, the 33rd edition in connection with the IBRA was held in May, with more than 100 stamp dealers or postal administrations and well over 10,000 visitors. Essen has always been an important regional meeting point for all philatelists from Northern and Central Germany.
However, the success cannot hide the problems associated with the planning and implementation of a similar event. Unfortunately, the Stamp Fair organiser, Jan Billion trade fair agency, has decided not to continue with the Essen Stamp Fair.
The BDPh believes that trade fairs and exchanges, such as those in Essen and Ulm, are still valuable for philately. They stimulate the hobby, serve as a meeting place and bring dealers and collectors together. The BDPh is therefore trying to find an alternative solution. Anyone interested in a future event in the Essen area as a retailer, working group or exhibitor, are asked to contact BDPh by email: info(at)bdph.de. We shall keep you up to date and hope to present a corresponding solution shortly.
