Once every four years, the biggest event for philatelists takes place in Poland. On October 3rd-7th, the XXII Polish National Philatelic Exhibition was held in Poznań on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the Polish Independence. On 500 frames you could admire the 117 best exhibits in Poland and get acquainted with the 31 exhibits of literature.
On the occasion of the exhibition there was one stamp issued and seven occasional postmarks were used. There were balloon mail for those who were interested. The balloon took off from the sports field near the place of the exhibition and transported letters assigned for this purpose.

Every day of the exhibition something interesting happened for the audience visiting the exhibition. On the first day, as part of the opening ceremony, Nike statuettes were awarded, constituting the symbol of Prymus (top of the class), a kind of philatelic Oscars. They were given, among others, by Ludwik K. Malendowicz – for the overall activities for the Polish philately and Club of Thematic Philatelists TEMATICA – for the best team.
During two days a lot of groups of children and youth visited the exhibition and they enjoyed a bunch of attractions prepared for them by special entertainers. Time was filled with fun and contests about stamps, familiarization with exhibits of their peers, presentation of stamps made of various materials. The philatelic occasion was also used to remind the patriotic anniversary. There was an army in historical uniforms, with the help of reproductions of stamps from that time the young people were reminded of the history of regaining independence. In the following days there was a ceremonial session of the Polish Philatelic Academy, meetings of philatelic interest clubs, training of philatelic judges, presentations of new editions of philatelic books.

The Jury was led by well-known exhibitor and judge Jacek Kosmala. The Grand Prix d’Honneur for the best exhibit in the championship class was awarded to Ryszard Prange for the thematic exhibit “Vine and wine – gifts of gods, sun and soil”. The Grand Prix for the best exhibit in the competition classes was presented to Zygmunt Żurek for the exhibit in the postal stationery class “Polish postcards in the zloty currency 1925-1939. MOTIVATION
For carrying out an in-depth research and study on forty-two letters sent by Isabella d’Este Gonzaga to his brother, Cardinal Ippolito d’Este, in the years 1504-1506, preserved in the Secret Archive Estense of Modena.
This heritage had never been the object of study or edition, through its work the rapporteur has highlighted the privileged relationship established, starting from this era, between women and epistolography.
The award consisting of a plaque in Silver and a check for € 3,000 was delivered to the winner on Saturday 6 October, p.v. at 11.00 am in the council hall of the Municipality of Pecetto Torinese, in the presence of the Mayor Adriano Pizzo, the Councilor for Culture, Annalisa Falchero and the Riggi family.

THE CURRICULUM OF CAMILLA GRANATIERO
Camilla Granatiero was born in Rome on January 23rd 1990. During her childhood she lived in Egypt, in Cairo, and in England, in Oxford. She graduated from the Liceo Classico Pilo Albertelli in Rome, and in 2014 she obtained a three-year degree in History at the University of Bologna with a 110 cum laude, presenting a thesis on the birth of gender identity in Italian female convents in the Counter-Reformation age. In 2018 she obtained a Master’s Degree in Historical Sciences at the same University, discussing a thesis in Paleography entitled “Writing and acting for women.” Critical edition of Isabella d’Este’s letters to Cardinal Ippolito (years 1504-1506) “, with speaker Maddalena Modesti and co-rapporteur Loredana Chines (110 cum laude). The work was part of a programmatic project for the edition, cataloging and study of unpublished sources of the Secret Archive Estense of Modena, born from the collaboration between the State Archive of Modena and the Department of Classical and Italian Philology of the University of Bologna (ARCE). Passionate about ancient writings, archives and manuscripts, her interests are particularly focused on the early medieval and renaissance age, the history of gender and the diplomatico-paleographic analysis.

From the 18th to the 22nd of September was held in Tordera, Barcelona, the IX EXFILCAT & National Spanish Sports & Olympic Exhibition “Tordera 2018”, organized by the Catalan Federation of Philatelic Societies, FECAFIL, with the support of the City Council of Tordera and the Philatelic Club Tordera and with the collaboration of the Royal Spanish Olympic Academy (RAOE).
On Friday, September 21, Mr. Conrado Durántez gave a conference entitled “Olympic Sports and Philately” at the Clavé Theater in the town of Tordera, with assistance of the Mayor of the city, members of the Municipal Corporation and a select group of attendees interested in Philately
The Spanish Post “Correos”, issued a special commemorative cancelation and card with the logos of participant federations
The collections presented were of very high quality, especially at the National Olympic and Sports Exhibition.
The winners of the contest were the following:
The Jury awarded the Grand Prix of the Exhibition to Joan Miquel Llompart, from Palma de Mallorca, for his collection “Sport, a social phenomenon”. He obtained the Gold medal, with 88 points. Llompart is a member of the Spanish Union of Olympic Philately (UEFO).
On the other hand, Santiago Sacristán Orejón (Madrid), member of the UEFO, presented an interesting collection with the title “History of the Olympic Games”, obtaining a Gold medal.
Other outstanding collections in the Olympic theme were:
“4000 years of field hockey” by Jorge Ángel Pulido Parga (Orense), Gold medal.
“Cycling: the epic of sports”, by Jordi Quintana Compte (Barcelona), Gold medal.
“Barcelona ’92”, by Enrique Tena Giner (S. Feliu de Llobregat), Gold medal.
“Flights for the Olympics” by Jacob Pieter Dekker (The Netherlands), Vermeil medal.
“My little queen the bicycle” by Vicente Pastor Perdiguero (Vilanova y la Geltrú), medal of Vermeil.
In addition, the Jury highlighted the collection in the Court of Honor: “History of the Olympics”. Presented in ten frames. This collection was built by the well known Olympic philatelist Sebastián Sabaté being acquired by the Spanish Olympic Committee.
