Since the lock-down began in March SOFIMA (the Madrid Philatelic Society) have published daily articles on subjects of philatelic interest. As a result they now have a long list of articles on their website on ‘curiosities’ ranging from the ‘Philatelic Aftermath of the Civil War’ through ‘The first aerial stowaway’ to ‘Disinfected Mail’. To see them all, as well as other news and articles, go to www.sofima.hol.es
The Society would like to continue to publish daily articles and is inviting contributions. Articles should be in Word, and no more than 2 pages long including images.
Anyone who would like to contribute an article is invited to contact Jacinto Sardinero whose address is jacinto.sardinero@gmail.com
The Bund Deutscher Philatelisten (BDPh) is launching a series of on-line seminars using Zoom technology to offset the restrictions on philatelic life imposed by the Corona crisis.
The first seminar will be held from 16.00-17.30 on Wednesday 13 May when Lars Böttger will talk on the theme of ‘Der 1. Weltkrieg und seine Folgen für die Post in Luxemburg’. Subsequent seminars will be held at the same time on Wednesdays and Saturdays. At present the programme runs until 4 July, but it is hoped that additional topics can be added. Most of the seminars will be given in German, but for non-German speakers at least one of them will be in English. The full programme is available to view on the BDPh website from 11 May. The link is www.bdph.de/onlineseminare.
The seminars are available free of charge, but to join a seminar you need to give notice in advance on each occasion through Eventbrite. The links for joining the seminars will also be on the BDPh website at www.bdph.de/onlineseminare.
The seminars will also be available to view afterwards at the same link.
