This year’s NORDIA exhibition was held in Langesund, Norway, from May 31 to June 2, and we are very happy to announce that the winner of the Postiljonen Challenge Trophy “SilverPostiljonen”, awarded in the Championship Class for the exhibit which according to the jury is the best, was Mr. Benny Winther and his collection “The Classic Stamps of Denmark 1851-1863.”
Mr. Winther is a longtime friend and client of ours, and we would like to offer our warmest congratulations. The trophy will be transferred from last year’s winner Mr. Richard Bodin, and consists of a Postilion on horseback, made of 3 kilos of solid silver by the silversmith Kjäll Arne Sahlin. The trophy is accompanied by an engraved silver medal of the 18th magnitude.
It is the 31st time the Trophy is awarded. The first time was in Malmö 1977 to another astute collector of Denmark, John Jacob Engellau. Other well-known winners are e.g. Joseph Hackmey, Göran Persson, Henrik Moritsen and Lars Engelbrecht.
We would also like to extend our congratulations to Kai Nieminen, who won the Grand Prix Nordic for “Grand Duchy of Finland 1856-1875,” Eivind Lund, who won the Grand Prix International for “Ecuador: The First Perforated Issue 1873-1875,” and Klaas Biermann, who won the Grand Prix National for “Norway: The First Issue 1855.”
