The Balkanfila Workgroup presents its first yearbook!
Editor Christos Gikas writes in his foreword: “This inaugural volume features seventeen articles that present readers with diverse philatelic materials, enriching their understanding of postal communications throughout the Balkan region. These items illuminate how mail services reflected every aspect of Balkan life during both peaceful periods and times of upheaval.”
The BERNABA 2025 exhibition, which served as both the Swiss National Exhibition (NABA) and the exhibition of the regional group Multilaterale, was held in Bern, Switzerland, from 14 to 17 May 2025. The exhibition enjoyed a satisfactory level of attendance and featured participation from postal administrations, auctioneers, dealers, and various working groups.
Multilaterale is a regional group comprising seven countries—Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, and Slovenia—with Belgium joining this year. The group organises exhibitions every other year. The previous event took place in 2023 in Koper, Slovenia, and the next will most likely be held in Ulm, Germany, in 2027.
A total of 92 exhibits from all competition classes participated in the Multilaterale section, including nine youth and eight literature exhibits. The jury, chaired by Damian Läge, awarded the Grand Prix to Harald Lang of Austria for his exhibit, The One Penny and Two Pence Mulready. The complete list of results is available here: https://fepanews.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/05/BERNABA2025_Palmares.pdf
At the closing meeting, representatives of the Multilaterale group assessed the exhibition as extremely successful and announced plans to reconvene in two years, in Ulm, Germany.
