The Hellenic Philatelic Society (HPS), Athens, proudly announced the 100th anniversary of Philotelia magazine with the November–December 20023 issue released today.
Philotelia is bimonthly, published without interruption since its first number (January–February 1924). HAFNIA 24 – An International Success
Already now more than 10 months before HAFNIA 24 the exhibition seems to become a huge international success. We have 38 out of FEPA’s 44 countries attending the show with commissioners. The exhibitor applications exceed our expectations of 1300 frames and the majority of the 40 dealer stands are sold.
We have two main sponsors on board. Skanlog A/S and Postiljonen Auktioner. The City of Copenhagen has generously supported the exhibition and so have the two Danish Philatelic Foundation. We are also seeing more members of our HAFNIA 24 Club coming in and we are grateful for any support we can get, now when the Danish Post have drawn their support due to their situation after the new Danish Postal Law.
The organizing committee has been very busy during the last three month and when we have passed the year-end, we can start the detailed work on all the fine exhibitor applications we have received.
The HAFNIA 24 organizers wish you Happy Holidays and a prosperous New Year with HAFNIA 24 as the main event. We are so much looking forward to seeing you in Copenhagen in October 2024.
Santa is going to exhibit
Our local Santa is showing his exhibit about the 300 years jubilee for the Danish Post in 1924 at the HAFNIA 24 exhibition in Øksnehallen in Copenhagen.
“Ho Ho Ho… Go to Copenhagen and have a look!”
Cedar Stamps, the publisher, has announced a new book by Semaan Bassil. Its full title is Mail in the Levant, Beirut, a case study in the early age of steamship & globalization (1835/1914).
The book examines Beirut, as a case study during Ottoman times when the emerging technologies of steam shipping and the modern postal system accelerated the flow of trade, knowledge, and travel. It focuses on histories such as emigration, tourism, missionaries, and early philatelic collectors, using covers, letters, postcards, illustrations, photographs, and archival materials.
