Giancarlo Morolli honoured in Lavagna
We’ve picked it up from Vaccari News: Giancarlo Morolli was honoured today in Lavagna (Genoa) with the City of Lavagna Philatelic Award.
Giancarlo is currently Vice-President of the Federation of European Philatelic Associations (FEPA), FSFI delegate for international affairs, national representative of the Royal Philatelic Society London, counsellor of the Italian Union of Philatelic Press, and an FIP juror for over fifty years. In 1989 his name was included in the Albo d’oro della philatelic italiana, and in 2010 he was invited to sign the Roll of Distinguished Philatelists.
Over the years, he has held countless roles in organised philately at every level. Being the president of the FIP Commission for Thematic Philately from 1977 to 2004, he is rightly considered the father of Thematics in its modern conception. With countless contributions as an ambassador of philately to the general public, a columnist or speaker at seminars and conferences, and an artist of writing regulations, and guidelines, he pursued the improvement of organised philately, with an eye towards the future. He was a pioneer in the use of information technology in philatelic exhibitions.
