The American Philatelist Celebrates 1500 Issues!
A remarkable milestone: the January 2026 edition of the American Philatelist, the monthly journal of the American Philatelic Society (APS), marks its 1,500th issue. For the record, No. 1 appeared in 1887, No. 500 in 1942, and the impressive 196-page No. 1,000 in May 1984.
Editor-in-Chief Susanna Mills notes that 2026 will also be a landmark year for the APS, which will celebrate its 140th anniversary. The year further coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States and what promises to be one of the decade’s major philatelic events—the Boston 2026 World Expo.
Congratulations!
