Niels Kristian Hansen

It is with great sorrow that we have received the sad news that Niels Kristian Hansen passed away on 23 February 2026, after a prolonged illness. Niels Kristian was only 62 years old.

Niels Kristian served as Chairman of Birkerød Frimærkeklub from 2017 to 2025, a club of which he had been a member since 1977, when he joined as a junior member. He was also Editor of Nordisk Filatelistisk Tidsskrift (2013–2022 and 2023–2024), and served as Chairman of Danmarks Filatelist Forbund (2016–2021). On 28 April 2025, Niels Kristian Hansen was presented with the DFF Silver Badge and, on the same occasion, appointed an honorary member of Birkerød Frimærkeklub, in recognition of his service as Chairman of the club for eight years as well as for his time as Chairman of DFF.

Niels Kristian’s funeral service will take place on Friday, 6 March, at 1.00 pm at Bistrup Kirke in Birkerød.
