21st Tassian Day: A Day of Meetings, Study and Updates

The Tasso and Postal History Museum and the Municipality of Camerata Cornello will hold the 21st Tassian Day on Sunday, 30 August 2026, at Cornello dei Tasso, Camerata Cornello (Bergamo), bringing together presentations on the history of the Tasso family, the postal service and the local heritage.

A highlight will be the presentation of Dr Simone Gerosa’s doctoral thesis, The Roads of the Brembana Valley: Isolation and Connection between the 14th and 18th Centuries, which examines the evolution of the valley’s road network and the transition from the medieval Via Mercatorum to the Strada Priula, drawing on archival, historical, archaeological and palaeobotanical evidence.

The museum will also present the annual “Cornello dei Tasso” award, recognising an individual, publication, organisation or project that has made an original contribution to promoting postal history or the Tasso family.

Two new educational initiatives will be introduced: an interactive multimedia installation exploring the history of the Tasso family and the “Bambini in gioco” project, through which pupils at Camerata Cornello Primary School created educational games based on the historic Via Mercatorum.

The event will conclude with participants having the opportunity to experience both the multimedia installation and the educational games.
