More News from ITALIA 2026
To honour three eminent figures in Italian Philatelic Literature, ITALIA 2026 organisers have named a gallery and two halls at the exhibition venue after them.
- Renato Mondolfo (1918-1992), one of Italy’s leading philatelists and scholars, who lived first in Trieste and then in Rome, and who recorded his philatelic memories in writing, complete with anecdotes and reflections. He is also remembered for his friendly and open nature, complemented by a subtle yet biting sense of humour.
- Paolo Vaccari (1940-2022) dedicated his life to philately; thanks to his passion, knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit, he developed a large sector of specialised philatelic literature by publishing a large number of books, either written by himself or by other philatelic scholars, and an internationally recognised specialist journal.
- Enzo Diena (1927–2000), son of Alberto (son of Emilio), began working at the philatelic consultancy in 1946 alongside his father and his uncle Mario. Alongside his undisputed expertise in philately, he was also a prolific writer, producing work of outstanding journalistic merit; he was frequently called upon to write prefaces for philatelic publications.
