The Association Internationale des Journalistes Philatéliques (International Association of Philatelic Journalists, short: AIJP) has updated its website. The previous site had been in use for about ten years and was getting to the end of its technical life.
The basic elements of the website are still the same, but their arrangement has been changed. The menu has been shifted from left to the top of the page. The right sidebar contains now the AIJP logo, a search box as well as a short list of coming events. The main feature and eye catcher of the page is now a large news section.
Philatelic literature news are the core of the website. These will be published frequently, and with improved range. The new technology allows more elements as before, for example videos and podcasts. Only the imagination of the news writers is the limit. Improved navigation aids, search box and news archive allow a reader to find published information easier than before. The language of all pages and most news can be dynamically changed between German and English.
One of the most useful new features is the different lists of publications mentioned in the news section. This allows readers to have a look at different publications and their reviews with one sight. In the future this will form a formidable database for friends of philatelic literature.
Even though technology is important, the most important reason for the update is to offer even better services to the members and enlarge the visibility of notable philatelic literature to the general public. It is the duty of the Board. However, we hope that all members help us in our efforts. Please, keep us informed about new philatelic literature, give us comments about the website and how it can be improved.
This all can be found at the very same internet address, aijp.org.
The Prestige Philately Club Prague has sent us the following information regarding its BIENNALE 2020 ‘TREASURES OF WORLD PHILATELY’ exhibition.
The exhibition will be held from November 7th to 22nd 2020 in the ceremonial halls on the 2nd floor of the National Museum in Prague. 80 to 100 individual rarities of extraordinary importance from the collections of members of PPCP, Club de Monte Carlo and Viennese Vindobona will be on display.
Large-scale exhibits are prepared, including the project “500 Years of Postal Services in Bohemia” and several others on the subject of classical philately, postal history and the history of philately.
The BIENNALE 2020 will be commenced at an opening ceremony on November 6th. Prominent figures have already received invitations to the opening of the exhibition, notably President of the Czech Republic Miloš Zeman, numerous cultural representatives, Czech Post, FIP and FEPA officials and, of course, the leaders of the participating clubs, exhibitors and members of the media. There will be a luxury exhibition catalogue published, the Czech Post is preparing a series of stamps, black prints and other products.
A series of commemorative Zero Euro banknotes will also be issued.
There will be an advertising and media campaign, both in relation to the BIENNALE 2020 and to philately in general. The entire event will be, of course, be covered generously by the media, there will be guided tours, VIP events, etc., as well as a TV documentary made for the exhibition.
For the first time in history, philately will be presented under the roof of our most important cultural institution. This is evidence of its increasing importance and relevance in the Czech socio-cultural environment. Most importantly, however, it offers a unique opportunity to further inspire the general public and raise awareness of the values, history and beauty of our field.
There are COVID restrictions in place in the Czech Republic but the exhibition spaces at the National Museum can hold up to 500 people with masks. At the time of writing individual visits to hotels and restaurants are unrestricted but masks are obligatory on public transport. International travel may be restricted. We are advised that these restrictions are subject to change at short notice.

“In view that the global COVID-19 pandemic still show no clear signs of abating with strict travel restrictions worldwide as well as written feedback on the health, safety and travelling concerns from our Members, the FIP Board of Directors have made a difficult decision, during the 133rd FIP Conference Meeting on 8 August 2020, that the 76th FIP Congress shall not proceed in Jakarta on 10 November 2020.”
“The Board regrets that in the current situation, we are unable to determine the future date and venue of the 76th FIP Congress. The FIP Board will monitor the pandemic situation according to the WHO guidelines and announce the new date and venue of a physical Congress, as soon as possible.”
