OLDENBURG 2017: Bilateral German-Danish Exhibition
The Carl von Ossietzky Universität of Oldenburg hosted the event.
The Bilateral Stamp Exhibition Oldenburg 2017 was organized with the participation of the Bund Deutscher Philatelisten e.V. (BDPh) and the Danmarks Filatelist Forbund (DFF) as a competition exhibition in rank 1. The exhibition was supported by funds of the Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Post-History.
Oldenburg 2017 took place from the 28 to 30 July 2017 in the Oldenburg University.
The highest points awarded by the jury were for:
- Ljungh, Jan-Olof : The first stamps of the German Empire: the eagle shield stamps and the values 10 and 30 groschen 94 GG
- Mazanek, Dr. Jan : Norddeutscher Bund/Deutsches Reich –Frankreich 1868 – 1871, Korrespondenz im Frieden und im Krieg 93 GG
- Siesing, Lennart: The bicoloured Danish Skilling Issue 1870 – 1874 92 GG
- Weis, Klaus : Entwicklung der Ortsstempel im späteren Großherzogtum Baden 1723 – 1871. 92 GG
- Siebert, Werner: Die Geschichte der Post in DeutschSüdwestafrika, dokumentiert anhand von Stempeln und Dokumenten der örtlichen Missions- und Poststationen (ohne Bahn- und Schiffspost) 92 GG

Historical and post-historic special exhibition
Within the framework of the bilateral exhibition OLDENBURG 2017, an exhibition of historical documents and museum expositions on the history of the relations between Denmark and Oldenburg were shown in the library of the University of Oldenburg.
Oldenburg’s special rarities were on display there: six units of six stamps each – five six-blocks and a six-line version of the 1861 edition of the Oldenburg coat of arms. These unique items were auctioned in 1988 for 1,200,000 DM by the auction house Köhler, which now presented them together with further rarities from the collection “Erivan” in Oldenburg.
But there were other Oldenburg rarities, especially rare and rare evidence from the well-known collection of Prof. Dr. Koch, shown in Oldenburg. Such a comprehensive show of all Oldenburg rarities will probably never be shown again.
In addition, royal letters from and to kings of Denmark, postal services in the duchy of Schleswig and a royal menage á trois and its historical consequences were shown in the special show. The museum focused on the themes of space and domination, space and commerce, space and order, space and communication through 100 years of common Oldenburg-Danish history.
