FEPA Symposium of Youth Philately
The FEPA Symposium of Youth Philately will be held on Saturday 27th of May, in Tampere, during “FINLANDIA 2017”. Eight FEPA Federations amongst the most successful on Youth Philately, will have specialists in the youth field presenting their best practices to all the attendants: Austria by Alfred Kunz; Cyprus by Nicos Rangos; Denmark by Ib Krarup Rasmussen; France by Claude Désarménien; Germany by Axel Brockmann; Slovenia by Bojan Bračič; Spain by José Pedro Gómez-Agüero; and Sweden by Peter Nordin.

Elected the new Board of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists
On December 3rd , 2016, in Sofia was held the Congress of the Union of Bulgarian Philatelists with the election of a new Board. For President was elected Spas Panchev and Vice-presidents George Detchev and Konstantin Penkov.

After the great success of the two previous events, the FEPA Board has unanimously agreed in granting the FEPA Recognition to the Exhibition with international participation “GMUNDEN 2017” that will be celebrated from the 24th to the 27th of August 2017.

FEPA Exhibition “EXFILNA 2017” in Saragossa: Eduardo de Paz and Jesús Sitjá, Grand Prix winners
The exhibition, held in Saragossa at the Palacio de Sástago and the Audorium Complex, presented 820 frames. Eduardo de Paz won the GP of the Championship Class with his “Papal States”, whilst the EXFILNA 2016’s GP was for Jesús Sitjá fot his “Maritime Mail of South Pacific from 1819 to UPU”.
JUPHILA 2016. Promotion of Philately through the Youth: The German Championship of Young Philatelists
The German Federation, BDPh - Bund Deutscher Philatelisten, leaded by the President Uwe Decker, gives an important role to the activities with the Youth. Great success of ODESSAPHILEX 2016, International Philatelic Exhibition with FEPA Recognition
From the 24th to the 28th of August was celebrated the International Philatelic Exhibition with FEPA Recognition "ODESSAPHILEX-2016" commemorating the 25th Anniversary of the Independence of Ukraine. At the event participated exhibits from Ukraine, Germany, Poland, Belarus and Hungary.
Full Recognition of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to AICO, the International Association of Olympic Collectors
At the 129th IOC Session in Rio de Janeiro, full IOC recognition was granted to AICO, pursuant to Article 3.7 of the Olympic Charter. AICO, under the Presidency of Dr. Roman Andrzej Babut, Thematic Juror and Honorary Memeber of the Polish Philatelists Union, is “A center of excellence for understanding and fostering the Olympic Movement through collectibles”.

New Board of the Union of Czech Philatelists
The Union of Czech Philatelists has elected new officials for 2016 – 2020. The new Executive Board and Supervisory Board have been elected at General Assembly in Prague. The boards ´election period covers among others the Specialized World Stamp Exhibition PRAGA 2018.
CANDIDATES FOR THE FIP COMMISSIONS
On the 24th and 25th of October will be held the election of the Board of the FIP Commissions in Taipei. Federations members of FEPA have appointed candidates for Commission's Chairman: Engelbrecht Lars, Denmark (Postal Stationery); Ebner Ralph, Germany (Revenues); Suhadolc Peter, Slovenia (Thematic) and Svendsen Lars Peter, Denmark (Traditional). All the four are only candidates to be elected Chairman of their Commissions.
The POST Book: 500 years of history in Europe
The last and extremely interesting book of Vincent Schouberechts, is devoted to the 500 years of history since the “Magna Carta” was issued by the Spanish King Charles I in 1516 in favor of the Thurn and Taxis family.

3 Days Symposium on Postal History in Carinthia
A most interesting 3 days Symposium has been held in Carinthia about the Postal History of former Krain and Lower Styria from pre-philately to the end of WWI, during SHS 1919-1921 and during occupations of Slovenia in WWII.
ABPS York Fair 2016, National Exhibition with international participation at the York Racecourse
The prize as Best in Show and Large Gold Medal was awarded to Mr Sandeep Jaiswal with British India - Queen Victoria Postal Stationery. Other main prizes were to Mr Jon Aitchison, Mr Stan Lawrence, Prof Peter Chadwick and Mr. Colin Hoffman.

XXI Centuries of Postal Communications in Spain: The whole book
On the 15th of July, the Spanish Post presented this terrific work which explains over its 400 pages, plenty of images, the milestones and the evolution of the Postal Communications in Spain from the Roman Empire to our days. The authors have been a group of prestigious historians coordinated by the specialists in Postal History Jose Manuel López Bernal and José María Sempere. You can read or download the whole book.
Not previously described area of the Nordic Postal History: Postal Boats Wrecks in Norway, by Egil H. Thomassen
From the late 1600s and for more than two centuries the mail was transported along the Norwegian coastline in small, open boats. Despite skilful seamanship several shipwrecks happened in this period. For the first time this area of the Postal History has been researched, thanks to the work of Egil H. Thomassen.
Exhibition “FILA-CARTO 2016 BUCHAREST” Specialized in Literature and Picture Postcards
The Research and Literature Association of Philatelists of Bucharest in cooperation with the Romanian Philatelic Federation have organized an exhibition specialized in Literature (works published in Romania or abroad since 2006) and Picture Postards, to be held at the Parliament of Romania from the 26th to the 30th of October 2016. The participation in FILA-CARTO BUCHAREST 2016 exhibition is free.

Westfila 2016: The National Belgium Championship with important Dutch participation
In a unique collaboration in Roeselare, Belgium, the Netherlands was at the national exhibition Westfila 2016, being present with a large number of collections and two members of the jury.

The Slovenian Philatelic Association elected new Board
On the 18th of June was held the Annual General Meeting of the Slovenian Philatelic Association. It was celebrated in a friendly atmosphere, and was elected the new Board: President: Peter Suhadolc, Vice presidents: Bojan Bračič and Igor Pirc
The HPS Medal Awards Ceremony 2011-2015
On 21st May 2016, was held the HPS Medal Awards Ceremony for the years 2011-2015. The awardees were: Nick Cardassilaris, Philatelic Society of Piraeus, Anthony Virvilis, Theodore Papaeliou, John Coundouros, Michalis Tsironis, Michalis Petradakis and Wolfgang Bauer.

Jvo Bader, President of the Swiss Federation, resigns with immediate effect
10.06.2016 Due to serious health problems and imperative advice of his doctor, our President Jvo Bader was forced to resign with immediate effect. For FSPhS and the Central Committee, the resignation comes unexpectedly.

Muharem Gimjani, new President of the Balkanfila Working Group
Following the tradition of the Balkanfila group, has been elected as new President the Chairman of the Federation which hosted the last exhibition, now Muharem Gimjani, President of the Albanian Federation. Igor Pirc was reelected as Secretary.

FIRST EXHIBITION IN ALBANIA: A GREAT BALKANFILA

Specialised WORLD STAMP EXHIBITION with FEPA Recognition: PRAGA 2018
At the FEPA Congress held on the 30th April, Vit Vanicek, in the name of the Union of Czech Philatelists requested the FEPA Recognition for the Specialised World Stamp Exhibition PRAGA 2018, wich was granted with the votes of all the Delegates.
Granted the FEPA Recognition to the Spring Stampex 2017
During the recent FEPA Congress, Chris King, as representative of the Association of British Philatelic Societies, requested the FEPA Recognition to the Spring STAMPEX 2017. It was granted by the unanimity of the Congress. Spring Stampex 2017 will be devoted to the countries which were part of the former Ottoman Empire.
Presentation of Awards at the FEPA Congress
During the FEPA Congress celebrated in Viana do Castelo, Portugal, were handed out the awards of Mr. Francis Kiddle in memoriam, Mme Michèle Chauvet, Mr.Calin Marinescu, the Philatelic Society of Sofia „Petko Karaivanoff” and the Briefmarken-Sammler Verein Gotha 1890 e.V.

As many as 58 exhibits received Gold or Large Gold medals, which reflect the extremely high level of the Exhibition. Out of competition also were exhibited six outstanding collections from the DASV, German Association of Postal History. The Palmares marked the end of a fantastic exhibition.
WHAT A SOCIAL PROGRAMME IN LUBRAPEX 2016 !
On top of the fantastic exhibition, LUBRAPEX 2016 included a Social Program with the invitation to all FEPA Delegates to the Congress, Commissioners, Jurors and other guests, to visit the Cellars of Porto Wine with lunch there, dinner and small violin virtuoso concert at the “Pousada de Santa Luzia”, over the Sanctuary, amongst others visits, lunch and diners. BEGAN THE FEPA EXHIBITION LUBRAPEX 50 ANOS
LUBRAPEX 50 ANOS, Portugal-Brazilian Exhibition with Germany (67 exhibits) and Italy (26) as guests Federations began yesterday with 252 Exhibits displayed on 965 frames. To celebrate the 50 year of continuous LUBRAPEX, probably the oldest binational exhibition of the world, it received the FEPA Support.
HIGH LEVEL AT THE FEPA EXHIBITION “EUROSPACE 2016”IN PRAGUE
From the12th to the 17th of April was held the “Eurospace 2016" International Astrophilatelic Exhibition at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Prague with FEPA Recognition and the participation of philatelists from Austria, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Slovakia, Spain and Switzerland.
FINLANDIA 2017 Newsletter #1 – April 2016
FINLANDIA 2017 will be arranged in May 24th – 28th, 2017. The exhibition is the biggest philatelic event in Europe – if not in the whole world – in 2017. The preparations for FINLANDIA 2017 are progressing as planned. There will be 40 FEPA countries participating, together with the invited USA and Australia.

ILLEGAL STAMPS: INFORMATION FROM UPU
After a collaboration of Nicos Rangos with UPU Management, he has obtained the authorization to publish and link in www.fepanews.com the illegal stamps issued in a number of countries members of the Universal Postal Union. This information is essential for experts, jurors and for many collectors in order to avoid buying and exhibiting such illegal stamps.

The FEPA Board unanimously agreed in granting the FEPA Recognition to “NORDIA 2017 Exhibition” to be held in The DGI-House/Spektrum in Vejle on 27 – 29 October 2017.

On the 13th and 14th of February, 30 jurors met in Bietigheim-Bissingen for the Jury Seminar directed by Dr. Wolfgang Leupold with the participation of the members of the Board of the German Federation Uwe Decker, Thomas Hoepfner and Alfred Schmidt.

Today has passed away George Sparis, President of the Hellenic Philotelic Society (HPS). He was also President of the Organizing Committee of NOTOS 2015. We are just receiving such sad message from Anthony Virvilis.

Special Regulations for the Evaluation of the new FEPA Class: THE PICTURE POSTCARD
The Special Regulations for the Evaluation of Picture Postcard Exhibits at FEPA Exhibitions were approved by the FEPA Congress in Athens, on 15 November 2015. They are subject to review by the 2018 FEPA Congress. These Regulations apply to all those exhibitions granted FEPA patronage, support or recognition at, or following, the 2015 FEPA Congress.
New Board of the ZSF – Union of Philatelists of Slovakia
The new Board (Rada) of ZSF is formed by 7 members: 4 delegates from the regions and three members included the President, elected at the Council of ZSF (previously general assembly).

Great promotion of Philately in Cairo at the “3rd Continental Exhibition” with FEPA Recognition
From the 31st of December 2015 to the 6th of January 2016, Cairo hosted the “3rd Continental Exhibition” with FEPA Recognition. Were exhibited 223 frames of 11 classes and 71 exhibits from 8 countries: Egypt, Bahrain, Cyprus, Great Britain, Lebanon, Oman, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates.
